Looking to build on last year’s success, where the LA Roosters claimed the Women’s title and reaching the quarter finals of the Men’s competition, the Club will again field strong squads.
This year’s teams are significantly bolstered by elite Sydney Roosters NRLW talent and a number of the Club’s best emerging male pathways players travelling from Australia, joining Los Angeles–based athletes who compete in the California domestic competition. The integration reflects both the strength of the Roosters system and the Club’s ongoing commitment to growing the game in the United States.
Sydney Roosters CEO Joe Kelly said the Vegas 9s continue to play an important role in the Club’s international vision.
"We are delighted to announce our LA Roosters teams to participate in the Premier division at the upcoming Vegas 9s,” said Kelly.
“This competition continues to evolve each year through the efforts of the NRL and has become a key highlight of the week of activity in Las Vegas surrounding the NRL and UK Super League fixtures.
“Building on last year’s success, we will again field strong squads. This year’s teams feature some of our best emerging male talent, a number of experienced NRLW players, and our Los Angeles–based players who compete in the California domestic competition.
“It is a terrific opportunity to bring our two clubs together while continuing to support the growth and development of rugby league in the United States.
“We’re excited to touch down in Las Vegas next week and reunite with our LA-based players and staff, and we look forward to what we hope will be another successful campaign,” he added.
Adding further leadership and experience, Sydney Roosters NRLW Head Coach John Strange will again coach the Women’s team, while two-time Roosters premiership winner Luke Keary will take charge of the Men’s side.
Strange welcomed the opportunity to reconnect both programs on the international stage.
“I’m looking forward to working with our LA Roosters Women’s players and staff and bringing them together with our Sydney Roosters NRLW players at the Vegas 9s. It’s a valuable opportunity to connect our programs and provide a strong development experience for everyone involved,” said Strange.
Keary said the tournament continues to provide a unique and exciting platform for players, saying: “I’m really looking forward to working with the players and enjoying the experience of the Vegas 9s. It’s a great opportunity to represent the Roosters in a unique environment and compete in a competition that continues to grow each year,”
With strong squads assembled, elite coaching leadership in place and momentum from last year’s campaign, the LA Roosters are ready to represent the red, white and blue in a tournament that continues to celebrate and elevate rugby league on the global stage.
