The Sydney Roosters have announced that tonight’s Round 2 NRL match against the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Allianz Stadium is officially sold out.
In front of a packed house, the historic rivalry between the two foundation clubs will once again take centre stage, eclipsing the previous record for a Sydney Roosters opening home game at Allianz Stadium.
The sell-out crowd highlights the enduring significance of the Roosters–Rabbitohs rivalry, one of the oldest and most passionate match-ups in Australian sport, dating back to the competition’s inaugural season in 1908.
Sydney Roosters CEO Joe Kelly said the atmosphere created by the Club’s Members and supporters plays a crucial role in the occasion.
“To see Allianz Stadium sold out tonight for our first home game of the season is a testament to one of the great traditions of our game,” said Kelly.
“Our Members and supporters consistently create an incredible atmosphere at Allianz Stadium, and we know tonight will be no different,” he added.
Ahead of kick-off, the Sydney Roosters and South Sydney Rabbitohs will join together in observing a moment’s silence in remembrance of the victims and those impacted by the Bondi tragedy in December.
