In four matches played against the Canberra Raiders on Saturday, the Roosters won three of four to remain in top spot in both Under 19s competition tables.
S.G. Ball Cup (Men’s Under 19s)
Undefeated competition leaders and defending premiers the Sydney Roosters have stretched their run of consecutive wins to 13, with a 56-0 victory over 9th placed Canberra Raiders at Mascot Oval on Saturday, after the Roosters led 24-0.
The Roosters ran in 10 tries, 8 from their back five and two from interchange forwards Ryan Tukapua and Agapetos Lote-Felo, who was returning to the game after five weeks out. Right winger Bastion Armstrong scored his second successive hat trick and took his try tally to eight from his last four games. Right Centre Jeziah Papa and left winger Joshua Fesolai also posted doubles, with fullback Zaylen Ekapati, again filling in for an injured Rex Bassingthwaite (wrist), also scoring a try.
After six rounds of the 2026 competition, it is the Roosters defence that has everybody sitting up and taking notice. The team has conceded just 35 points this season, at an average of less than 6 points per game. The team reflects very much on the values of their Coach, Boyd Cordner and is giving itself every chance to win back-to-back titles.
The Sydney Roosters remain in 1st place on the table and next play the 11th placed North Sydney Bears at Kenthurst on Saturday at 11.30 am.
The Central Coast Roosters had the bye on the weekend and currently sit 17th on the table. They next play the 14th placed Illawarra Steelers a Woy Woy on Saturday at 2.00 pm.
Harold Matthews Cup (Men’s Under 17s)
The 7th placed Sydney Roosters have been frustratingly defeated 20-16 by the 11th placed Canberra Raiders at Mascot Oval on Saturday.
The Roosters errors proved very costly as they gave up four tries to the visitors and, in all probability, lost any chance to qualify for a Top 4 spot in this year’s final series.
The Roosters fell behind 14-6 (Roosters try to second rower Cooper Tesoriero) after 26 minutes, before tries to right centre Andy Toia and halfback Charlie Webb saw the Roosters take the lead and hold that lead until the final 9 minutes when a converted try to the Raiders right winger Mason Morrisey, from a spilled bomb, allowed the Raiders to regain the lead and win the match. The Roosters had a number of opportunities to ice the game prior to, and after, the Raiders final try, but it just wasn’t their day.
The Sydney Roosters, who have now dropped to 9th place on the table, next play the 11th placed North Sydney Bears at Kenthurst on Saturday at 10.00 am.
The Central Coast Roosters had the bye on the weekend and currently sit 15th on the table. They next play the 3rd placed Illawarra Steelers at Woy Woy on Saturday at 12.30 am.
Tarsha Gale Cup (Women’s Under 19s)
Unbeaten competition leaders the Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy team have made it six from six in 2026 with a 38-12 win over 7th placed Canberra Raiders at Mascot Oval on Saturday, after scores were locked at 12-12 at half time.
The Roosters, missing star lock forward Anastasia Letupue and winger Jayda Durham, were sloppy early and trailed the Raiders 12-6 (Roosters try to prop Te Raukura Leafe) after) 22 minutes, but a try to fullback and captain Mia Vaotuua off a nice break from halfback Meg McPahil enabled the Roosters to draw level with the Raiders before half time.
However, it was the real Roosters in the second half, scoring five unanswered tries to run away with the game. Forwards Lajni Moore and Laylah Tafili joined Leafe as try scorers, whilst Mia Vaotuua scored her second, a scintillating individual try. Right winger Tahnee Potter and right centre Logan Fletcher scored the other tries in a 38-12 win.
The Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy team remain in 1st place on the table and next play the 7th placed North Sydney Bears at Hinchinbrook on Saturday at 11.30 am.
Lisa Fiaola Cup (Women’s Under 17s)
The 6th placed Central Coast Roosters have beaten the 9th placed Canberra Raiders 42-20 at Mascot Oval on Saturday, after the Raiders led 14-0 after 16 minutes and 14-10 at half time.
An error ridden start to the game proved very costly for the Roosters with Raiders left centre Evie Perry crossing for three tries in the first 16 minutes.
The Roosters got themselves back into the game with tries to fullback Stella Hall in the 23rd minute and speedy left winger Sienna Kennedy-Wilkie in the 27th. It was Kennedy-Wilkie’s 9th try of the season (through 5 games).
After the halftime break though the Roosters put the foot on the accelerator, running in six second half tries to one. Roosters second half tries were scored by right winger Silia Tuitufu, five eighth Layla Tonga, prop Kewa Kahuroa, hooker Ivy Hagan and interchange players Talia Berryman and Ellshah Paki.
The Central Coast Roosters, have now moved to 4th place on the table, with four wins and one loss, and next play the 10th placed North Sydney Bears at Hinchinbrook on Saturday at 10.00 am.
