The four Roosters junior representative teams that took on the North Sydney Bears on Saturday have all come away with big wins with the cumulative scores in the four games finishing at 210-24 to the Roosters.
S.G. Ball Cup (Men’s Under 19s)
The unbeaten defending premiers the Sydney Roosters have extended their winning sequence to fourteen after defeating the 11th placed North Sydney Bears 56-10 at Woy Woy on Saturday, after the Roosters led 26-6 at half time.
The Roosters ran in 10 tries, with nine Roosters crossing over for four pointers. Five Eighth Brok Elliott crossed for a double whilst New Zealander Bastion Armstrong, playing right wing, scored again, taking his try tally to 9 from his past 5 games. Skipper Darcy Smith, playing left edge, brought his try tally for the season up to six.
Despite the scoreline, the Roosters would have been disappointed with a number of aspects of their game, with quite a few basic handling errors and some simple defensive lapses. However, it’s hard to be continually at your best and I’m sure Coach Boyd Cordner will work on the team producing a more consistent 70 minute performance when next they play.
With that win, the Sydney Roosters remain in top spot on the ladder and will enjoy the bye in Round 8.
The 17th placed Central Coast Roosters have notched their first victory of the season with a 30-18 win over the 15th placed Illawarra Steelers at Woy Woy on Saturday, after the Roosters led 20-0 at half time.
After five straight losses, the Central Coast thoroughly deserved their victory over Illawarra, with the home team scoring six tries to three. Left winger Bodi Jeffreys crossed for three tries, taking his tally to six from five games this season. Other Roosters try scorers were five eighth Johnathan Mansour (two) and right winger Fynn Wilson.
After leading 20-0 the Roosters allowed the Steelers back into the game and with nine minutes remaining the Roosters lead was just six, 24-18. Fortunately, the boys settled and closed the game out with Jeffreys third try soon after the Steelers got to within six.
With that win, the Central Coast Roosters have climbed off the bottom of the ladder to 16th spot and next play the 5th placed Parramatta Eels at Merrylands on Saturday.
Harold Matthews Cup (Men’s Under 17s)
The 9th placed Sydney Roosters have returned to the winners list with a 30-10 win over the 11th placed North Sydney Bears at Woy Woy on Saturday, after the Roosters led 20-6 at half time. The Bears scored the first and last tries of the match but the Roosters dominating the game outside of those moments.
In those 34 minutes, the Roosters ran in six tries (right centre Andy Toia, right winger Levi Scarlett, fullback Harper Boothroyd, hooker Caleb Zahra and edge forwards Cooper Tesoriero and Tai Skipps) to blow Norths out of the game.
With that win, the Sydney Roosters return to the Top 8 on the ladder (7th place) and will enjoy the bye in Round 8. If the Roosters can then beat the 17th placed Melbourne Storm in Round 9, they will qualify for the finals
The 15th placed Central Coast Roosters have extended their losing sequence to five after going down 40-6 to the 4th placed Illawarra Steelers at Woy Woy last Saturday, after the Steelers led 22-6 at half time.
The Roosters were no match for the Steelers, whose only loss this year was to the Sydney Roosters in Round 2. Hooker Nate Ross crossed for the Roosters only try in the 15th minute.
The Central Coast Roosters drop to 16th spot after that loss and next play the 5th placed Parramatta Eels at Merrylands on Saturday.
Tarsha Gale Cup (Women’s Under 19s)
Competition leaders the Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy team remain unbeaten through the first seven rounds of the season after defeating the 7th placed North Sydney Bears 60-0 at Hinchinbrook on Saturday, after the Roosters led 20-0 at half time.
The Roosters ran in 12 tries, taking their season tally to 48 (through 6 games) as they continue to set the benchmark in this season’s competition. The Roosters have also conceded just seven tries in six games.
Fullback and captain Mia Vaotuua crossed for three tries after scoring a double in her previous game, whilst left winger Jayda Durham scored a double on her return to the side. Other Roosters try scorers were right centre Logan Fletcher, right winger Tahnee Potter, five eighth Talea Tonga, props Tyra Dymock and Te Raukura Leafe and edge forwards Lahni Moore and Makenna Hammond.
The side scored their final 8 tries of the match in the last 24 minutes of the match (a try every three minutes) as the North Sydney defence was at a loss trying to contain the rampaging Roosters.
With that win, the Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy team retain top spot on the ladder and next play the 3rd placed Parramatta Eels at Merrylands on Saturday, a re-match of the 2025 Grand Final.
Lisa Fiaola Cup (Women’s Under 17s)
The 4th placed Central Coast Roosters have enhanced their Top 4 prospects with a 64-4 win over 10th placed North Sydney Bears at Hinchinbrook on Saturday, after the Roosters led 30-0 at half time.
The Roosters ran in 12 tries, six in each half, in a most impressive display. Right winger Silia Tuitufu crossed for four tries, taking her season tally to nine in six games. She now has the same number of tries (in the same number of games) as left winger Sienna Kennedy-Wilkie, who failed to score on Saturday. However, lock Lara Murray crossed for a double and other Roosters try scorers were fullback Stella Hall, left centre Malia Moses-Kinkaid, halfback Ngaire Jarmain, prop Aaliyah Temete, second rower Mia-Cheri Lokeni and bench forward Tupou Fakalelu.
With that win, the Central Coast Roosters remain 4th on the ladder and next play the 2nd placed Parramatta Eels at Merrylands on Saturday, a re-match of the 2025 Grand Final.
