Roosters teams are in action in three of the four grand finals of the junior representative competitions being played at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday.
Sydney Roosters S.G. Ball Cup Team (Grand Final):
The Sydney Roosters, who finished 3rd on the competition ladder at the conclusion of the regular season, with seven wins and one loss, play 7th placed Newcastle Knights, at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday in this season’s Grand Final. The match kicks off at 3.15 pm.
UNE SG Ball Cup Highlights | Preliminary Final - Roosters v Rabbitohs
Coach Boyd Cordner has named his team for the Grand Final, as the Roosters attempt to defend their 2025 title, and win the competition for a sixth time. The Roosters met the Knights earlier this season with the Roosters winning comfortably 28-4
With regular halfback Carter Mareko serving the final game of his two-match suspension, Jeziah Papa has been recalled to the team to play in the halves, with Zaylen Ekapati, who replaced Mareko in the halves in the Preliminary Final, going back to the bench and Ryan Tukapua dropping out of the 17.
At this stage there are no other changes to the team that beat the Rabbitohs in the Preliminary Final. Left centre Lui Lee, who left the field on Saturday with injury has been named.
It will be the second time the Roosters and Knights have met in an S.G. Ball Cup Grand Final. In 1997, when ran as an Under 18s competition, the Roosters, featuring players such as Anthony Minichiello, Dean Widders, Mark Riddell, Andrew Lomu, Ronald Prince and Nelson Lomi, beat the Knights 11-10. The Roosters are chasing their 6th S.G. Ball Cup premiership after winning in 1997, 2008, 2010, 2014 and 2025.
The Roosters only Grand Final defeat in this competition occurred in 2022 when beaten 22-20 by Penrith. The Roosters team was captained that day by Siua Wong and some of his teammates in that team were Robert Toia, Ethan Strange, Xavier Va’a, Tyler Moriaty, Max McCathie, Benaiah Ioelu and Salesi Foketi.

Central Coast Roosters Harold Matthews Cup Team:
The Central Coast Roosters season is over. The team, coached by Ryan Southam, finished in 17th place on the competition table, with one win and seven losses.
Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy Tarsha Gale Cup Team:
The Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy team’s season is over. The team, coached by Keeley Nizza, finished the regular season as minor premiers with seven wins and one loss. However, they narrowly lost to 4th placed Cronulla-Sutherland in Week One of the finals, before beating 5th placed Penrith in Week Two and then being comprehensively beaten by defending premiers Parramatta Eels in last Sunday’s Preliminary Final, to bow for 2026.
The Grand Final will be contested on Saturday at Leichhardt Oval between the two teams that beat the Roosters in the finals; 2nd placed Parramatta and 4th placed Cronulla-Sutherland, with a kick off of 1.30 pm.
Central Coast Roosters Lisa Fialoa Cup Team (Grand Final):
The Central Coast Roosters, who finished 4th on the competition ladder at the conclusion of the regular season, with six wins and two losses, play 3rd placed Canterbury-Bankstown at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday in this season’s Grand Final. The match kicks off at 10.00 am.
Coach Jayme Fressard has today named her team for the Grand Final, as the Club attempts to win its very first title in this competition in its second successive Grand Final. The teams have not clashed previously in 2026.
With the return of Sienna Kennedy-Wilkie to the left wing, after missing the last two matches with concussion, the Roosters are at full strength for the Grand Final. With Kennedy-Wilkie’s return, Alissa McNair goes back to the bench, and Jaggar Curnow moves from the bench to be 18th player, replacing Jessica Boreham-Cole. Kennedy-Wilkie and right winger Silia Tuitufu are the team’s leading try scorers this season with 11 each.
Finally, Aailyah Temete has been chosen to start at prop on Saturday, swapping with Ellshah Paki, who returns to the bench. However, it wouldn’t surprise to see that change reversed once the team is finalised at 9.00 am on Saturday.
