The Sydney Roosters are pleased to announce the signing of Dietrich Roache, with the 24-year-old joining the Club with immediate effect on a deal through to the end of the 2027 NRL season.
One of Australia's most accomplished Rugby Sevens players, Roache represented Australia at the Tokyo and Paris Olympic Games and was a member of the side that claimed the 2021-22 World Rugby Sevens Series title. A product of Patrician Brothers' College, Fairfield, Roache originally played rugby league before making a transition to rugby union.
Sydney Roosters Head of Recruitment Joel Carbone said Roache's athletic profile and competitive pedigree made him an exciting addition to the Club.
“Dietrich is an outstanding athlete who has already proven himself on the international stage through Rugby Sevens,” said Carbone.
“He's someone we've admired for some time. His speed, footwork, competitiveness and willingness to learn give him a terrific foundation as he transitions back to rugby league.
“We know there's a learning curve ahead, but we're excited by what he can become in our system and we're looking forward to working with him over the coming seasons,” he added.
