The Sydney Roosters are saddened to acknowledge the death of Player No. 451, Tom Clinch, last week (Tuesday 21st July) at the age of 92.
Born in Paddington and playing his junior rugby league with Paddington Colts, Clinch was one of the oldest Roosters at the time of his passing.
Clinch played two first grade games for the Club (one in 1955 and another in 1956) after graduating from the 1954 Roosters Presidents Cup team. A halfback, Clinch spent most of his time at the Roosters in the lower grades, with Frank Curran the regular first grade halfback during his career at the Club, but got the honour to play those two games, which proudly made him a member of a very special group of players, as a Roosters first grader. He continued passionately supporting the Roosters till the day he died.
