The Sydney Roosters is saddened to acknowledge the passing of Rooster No. 915 Brian Smith, at the age of 59.
Brian Smith was a Rugby International who played 6 tests for Australia and 9 tests for Ireland before switching to rugby league in 1991. Smith played three seasons at the Balmain Tigers before joining the Roosters in 1994, where he played the opening six games of that 1994 season.
Since 2015, Smith held the positions of Head of Rugby and Head of Sport at Sydney’s Scots College. In those roles Smith was a key figure in the relationship that developed between the Sydney Roosters and Scots College. Players such as Billy Smith, Siua Wong, Blake Steep, Hugo Savala and Max McCathie were all beneficiaries of that relationship, having played Rugby at Scots and first grade rugby league at the Roosters.
The Sydney Roosters thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP Brian Smith.
