Vale Paul Langmack

The Sydney Roosters are very saddened by the news that Paul Langmack, Rooster #980, passed away on Thursday, November 5.

Paul Langmack was an outstanding back row forward, with exceptional ball playing skills, who had an illustrious playing career. After captaining the Australian Schoolboys team in 1982, Langmack, whilst still at school at Partician Brothers Fairfield, made his first grade debut for the Bulldogs in 1983, at just 17 years of age.

He went on to play 174 first grade games for the Bulldogs, including winning three premierships, before switching to the Western Suburnbs Magpies in 1991, where he played a further 137 first grade games. In 1999 he was enticed to play a final season of first grade at the Sydney Roosters, by his former team mate and 1988 premiership coach, Phil Gould, who was coaching the Roosters at the time. He managed just three first grade games at the Roosters but is one of ten players to play for our Club who has played 300 or more first garde games (314 in total).

Langmack played four Origin games for NSW in 1987-88 and was a member of the 1986 Australian Kangaroos touring team. He also played a season for Halifax in England between the 1984 and 1985 Australian seasons. He also coached South Sydney over two seasons (2003-04) and served for a number of years as the NSWRL Community and Welfare Officer. He will be greatly missed.
