Hello Chooksters,

Its certainly been a big week in Roosterland this week, with the announcement of our new skipper and his deputies for the 2013 season and the addition of one of the NRLs most exciting talents to our roster.

Anthony Minichiellos appointment as Club Captain for 2013 sent the Twitter-verse wild, with Minichiello trending on Twitter within 30 minutes of the historic announcement. Mini will be supported this season by Mitchell Pearce, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Jake Friend and the recently re-signed Boyd Cordner.

The excitement hasnt just been within these walls though, with Fans across the City, State, Country and World all getting in on the action and REPRESENTING their way through the power of social media. Each week in 2013, we will be wrapping up the week that was in the social media world and summing up some of the best posts and tweets from fans.

This week also gave us a chance to launch some exciting new initiatives across our social platforms, including Chook Chat and Chook Captions.

The response and enthusiasm of Fans was overwhelming for the players involved and again showed us that were the luckiest club in the league because of the passion of our supporters wherever they may be, typing away, in the world!

Chook Chat, a Twitter-based initiative, brings the Fans closer to their heroes in a Q&A situation through the hashtag #ChookChat. Our first of 2013, with our new skipper Mini, saw the Premiership winner answer questions from fans for an hour as he took over the @sydneyroosters official Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon.

Throughout the season we will bringing fans more and more Chook Chat opportunities with Roosters identities of old and new, including some of those that may not have yet succumbed to the pressure and launched their own Twitter accounts. If you have anyone you would like to Chook Chat with, get online, using the hashtag, and let us know!

The second initiative, Chook Captions, allows Fans to show us their editorial skills and go in the running to claim a weekly prize. Hosted on our official Facebook page, a photo is uploaded weekly and Fans are asked to give us the best caption for each picture.

We kicked off this week with Shaun Kenny-Dowall and a confused and crying fan at last months Members BBQ, with three winners picked by SKD to receive a signed Roosters water-bottle.

Each week this season we will be posting a new photo, for Fans to caption an d hopefully claim their prize!

Thank you again to all of our Fans for their social support, this week, and we look forward to hearing and reading what you have to say throughout in the week ahead.

Yours in social,

Sydney Roosters Digital Team
