The Sydney Roosters are pleased to announce the signing of highly sought-after Australian schoolboy, Jackson Hastings.

With a number of NRL clubs pursuing his services, the Roosters have signed the exciting 17 year-old for three seasons, commencing in 2014.

The Roosters were the team I grew up supporting so Im stoked to be joining the club. Ive still got a lot to learn and Im excited to be joining guys like Mitchell Pearce and James Maloney who I can learn so much from, said Hastings.

In signing with the Roosters, Hastings will continue a proud tradition of playing at the same club as his father, who in this case is Roosters Hall of Fame inductee, club legend Kevin Horrie Hastings.

Player number 674, Horrie played with the club between 1976-87 and is the first Easts clubman to play 200 first grade games. He held the record for the number of first grade games for Easts until broken by Luke Ricketson in 2005.

Roosters recruitment manager, Peter OSullivan, believes that Hastings has a big future in the NRL.

This is a real coup for the Roosters we are proud to have the next generation of Hastings joining our club, said OSullivan.

Jackson is a wonderfully talented young man who can play in the halves, at hooker or fullback. As we know, he hails from a proud rugby league legacy, but in saying that, Jackson is his own young man and we look forward to watching him develop on and off the footy field in the coming years.

Hastings will officially join the Roosters when the clubs 2014 NRL pre-season commences later this year.
