Brad Fittler has sent the Auckland Nines into a meltdown with a 65m intercept to secure the 14-7 win over the Broncos this afternoon and keep the Roosters hopes alive in the nine-a-side tournament.

The veteran latched on to a David Staff cut-out ball and found himself in space down the right edge with only former Rooster Marty Kennedy in pursuit.

The run down the field had not only Roosters Fans but rugby league supporters at Eden Park and around the world on their feet riding the former NSW and Australian Skipper home.

His halves partner Mitchell Pearce was the only other try-scorer for the Roosters in the win, with the Co-Captain again proving himself as the Tricolours player of the tournament so far with some fancy footwork to evade the Brisbane defence.
