Roosters Launch First Nations Jersey

The Sydney Roosters are proud to unveil the Club's 2026 First Nations Jersey, a vibrant celebration of culture, family and one of the Club's most celebrated figures, Rooster #804 Craig "King Salvo" Salvatori.

Available to purchase now, this year's jersey has been designed by Craig's daughter, Kaylie Salvatori, who has reimagined her father's remarkable journey through a bold, contemporary Aboriginal art style that celebrates both his football legacy and his enduring impact beyond the game.

Each year, the Sydney Roosters honour an Indigenous Champion whose contribution to the Club and Rugby League has left a lasting legacy. Working alongside Indigenous artists with a personal connection to each Champion allows these stories to be told authentically, creating an opportunity to both celebrate and educate through the power of storytelling.

A Dally M Medallist, representative player and Roosters legend, Salvatori broke into professional Rugby League during the 1980s, paving the way for future generations while earning a reputation as one of the game's toughest and most respected front-rowers.

Kaylie's artwork embraces contemporary Aboriginal expression, reinforcing that Aboriginal art is as diverse and evolving as the people who create it. Inspired by her father and the energy of the 1990s, the jersey features nostalgic illustrations celebrating Craig's career, his iconic "King Salvo" nickname, milestone footballs, the Centurion Rooster, his Yuin totem the Umbarra (Pacific Black Duck), and the powerful footsteps that symbolise his journey through life and football.

Adding to the significance of the design, adidas reimagined its iconic Three Stripes in the colours of the Aboriginal Flag, creating a striking feature that proudly honours the story the jersey represents.

"This jersey is a joyful celebration of my dad, Craig Salvatori, his achievements as a Roosters legend, Dally M winner, and representative player at the national and international levels," artist Kaylie Salvatori said.

"These illustrations are a joyful proclamation of Blak excellence, represented in my own contemporary ways of expression outside of what is deemed traditional Aboriginal mark making - asserting that Aboriginal art originates from the Aboriginality of the artist, and can take on any form.

"The jersey joyfully celebrates Dad and his legacy, drawing upon the exuberance of the 90s... all joined together by his powerful footsteps.

"Congratulations to my Dad, King Salvo, on his incredible career and legacy as a deadly Koori player."

For Salvatori, the jersey is both deeply personal and incredibly meaningful, celebrating not only his playing career but the people, culture and community that shaped it.

"It's really amazing, I'm overjoyed," Salvatori said.

"She's been able to take my playing career and translate it onto a jersey.

"What you're looking at is something that inspires, but also stretches the boundaries."

The 2026 First Nations Jersey continues the Club's proud tradition of recognising Indigenous Champions while sharing stories that celebrate resilience, identity and excellence. Designed through the eyes of family, this year's jersey is more than a playing strip - it is a celebration of legacy, culture and the generations that continue to carry those stories forward.
