The Sydney Roosters Holden Cup side have gone down to the Brisbane Broncos 44-14 at Suncorp Stadium.

Despite securing an early lead the Tricolours leaked too many second half points to stay in the contest.

In some positive news for the club NYC debutant Arthur Currie put in a solid first outing for the club.

It was his opposite winger however Jack Goodsell who opened the scoring, latching on to a well waited bomb from Jackson Hastings but the Broncos hit back soon after, a clever movement from dummy half putting the home side up by two.

The two sides were exchanging tries as first Brendan Elliot scored with a magnificent fifty meter dash running straight past the fullback before Jordan Drew scored for the Broncos running straight through the middle to level the scores.

Two late tries then had the home side in front by twelve heading in to the break.

The two sides again traded tries early in the second leaving the Broncos with a solid fourteen point advantage.

From there the game got away from the Tricolours with the home side running out convincing winners.
