Mitch Aubusson shares his thoughts following the last-gasp Game One victory over the Brisbane Broncos, including the impressive showing in defence.

"We backed our defence and got the points in the end,' Aubussons said.

Aubusson also pointed out the tough opposition from the Broncos, forcing a late converted try from fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck to seal a first round win.

"They were a tough team to crack."

Aubusson was also complimentary of the shortened format of the game, his first crack at the Nines after not taking part in 2014.

"It's exciting but a tough game," he smiled.

"Its also good to get out of the heat in Sydney and come across to Auckland."
