Pathways Results Round 11: Bears Bounce Back, Roosters Felled

The North Sydney Bears have bounced back into winning form, claiming victory against Mounties while the Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg side were defeated by the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in Round 11 as the Central Coast Roosters once again enjoyed the bye.

Second Half Surge Propels Bears at Home

The North Sydney Bears completed a second-half surge to defeat Mounties 20-10 at North Sydney Oval on Sunday afternoon.

The men in red and black came out of the blocks early as Brad Abbey scored in the fourth minute of the match, much to the delight of the local fans, but their opponents hit back to level the scores after half an hour, with the sides heading into the sheds at 6-all

Once again the Bears struck early to take the lead as Moala Graham-Taufa scored three minutes into the second half, and with Jesse Marschke and Sione Hopoate touching down in quick succession, the home side took an 18-6 lead heading into the final quarter of the match.

A penalty goal to Ronald Volkman gave the side a fourteen-point lead as the clock wound down, and although Mounties scored a late four-pointer, the Bears took home victory 20-10. 

For the third round in a row, the North Sydney Bears will play at their spiritual ground of North Sydney Oval, as they host the Canberra Raiders in their Round 12 clash at 2pm.

Roosters Jersey Flegg Side Downed by Dogs

The Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg side had a tough afternoon at Mascot Oval, going down to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 42-14.

Despite scoring through Fijian sensation Vuate Karawalevu, their opponents took a 24-6 half-time lead. 

With Corey Fenning and Jacob Preston claiming their own four-pointers in the second half to spark some life back into the side, the Bulldogs eventually ran away with the result and the two competition points.

The Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg side will host the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at Waverley Oval on Sunday afternoon in their Round 12 clash at 2:45pm.
