The Roosters' courageous captain gave plenty of praise and insight into his mentor and current Roosters Head Coach Trent Robinson.

"I don't think I've ever met a person that can bring a group of men together and make them believe as much as he does," Cordner said.

"It's pretty amazing to see, especially last year when we've gone through all the covid stuff and everyone didn't know what was happening. I remember being in the office that day when the news bulletin came on and they called the game off and suspended the game and we were all looking around going, 'What do we do?'.

"And we were asking Robbo and everyone was going 'mate, what do we do?'. I've never seen that before; grown men who we consider ourselves with the Roosters and we're turning to Robbo and we're asking him, 'what are we doing' or 'what's going on?' and for him to have that respect and of the whole Club.

"Like I said before, I've never met a person that can bring not only a team but a whole Club that sort of relies on him in a way to lead us, because essentially whatever he says we're doing.

"And that's a reflection of the way the boys are playing now. It's a reflection of Robbo's coaching because, like I said, essentially, whatever he says, we do. So I think it goes to show how much respect the boys have for Robbo."
