Vale Robert Laurie

The Sydney Roosters are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former player Robert 'Rocky' Laurie.

Laurie, Rooster #668, played 58 games for the Club during two stints from 1976-1977 and 1981-82 - which saw him score 12 tries and help steer the Club to consecutive preliminary final finishes in the latter two seasons.

Arriving in Sydney via Wauchope in 1975, Laurie hit the ground running in the local junior league with the Paddington Colts, winning the A-Grade competition before being graded with the Roosters on the back of his stellar performances.

A classy five-eighth and halfback, Laurie also made his representative debut while at the Club, playing two matches for NSW City Firsts and NSW Firsts in 1981 before appearing for NSW Country Firsts in 1983 following his time at Bondi.

The Sydney Roosters extend their heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Robert Laurie at this time.
