The return of Captain Isabelle Kelly has seen the Central Coast Roosters pick up their second win of the Harvey Norman Women's Premiership campaign, defeating Cronulla 14-12 in a thriller at Cronulla High School.
Played in hot conditions on Saturday, returning NRLW stars Isabelle Kelly and Olivia Kernick made their impact known with the side bouncing back from a last-start loss to Mounties.
A try to forward Jessikah Reeves had the Roosters leading early, however the Sharks cancelled out the four pointer when Andie Robinson crossed less than 10 minutes later.
Trailing 6-4 at the break, the Roosters dug deep in an arm-wrestle of a second half, defending stoically in a game where nothing separated the two sides.
Centre Carissa Reid, who was promoted to the starting side after initially being named on the bench, broke the deadlock in the last fifteen minutes before Kelly clinched the contest five minutes later.
A late try to Tayla Curtis gave the Sharks some hope, however the Roosters held on to jump to 6th on the table after three rounds.
The side will face the Illawarra Steelers at Morry Breen Oval next week.
