Hall of Fame Selection Committee Confirmed

The Sydney Roosters Hall of Fame Selection Committee has been assembled as the Club prepares to elevate new members into the Hall of Fame for just the third time in 115 years.

Chaired by Sydney Roosters Director Peter Newton, the Hall of Fame Selection Committee will select and induct six new members into the Sydney Roosters Hall of Fame on Friday, August 4 at the Sydney Royal International Convention Centre.

The Hall of Fame Selection Committee will create a shortlist of nominees based on two Era’s in our Club’s History.

Era 1: 1908 - 1947
Era 2: 1947 - Present

To be eligible for nomination, a Sydney Roosters Player or Coach must meet the following criteria.

Player Eligibility

For a player to be eligible for nomination for the Sydney Roosters Hall of Fame, they must have completed the following:

  • Played for the Sydney Roosters.
  • Retired from playing for a minimum of five years.
  • Achieved the minimum games in their Era, as defined below.

When assessing playing contribution, this is defined in two Eras. The Eras are reflective of the amount of games played in a season, which somewhat provides an equalisation to the players’ ability to achieve eligibility.

Player Debut Season 1908 – 1946: Minimum 50 First Grade Games Played
Player Debut Season 1947 – Present: Minimum 100 First Grade Games Played

Who Will Be Next?

  • Coached the Sydney Roosters First Grade Team.
  • Retired from coaching for a minimum of five years.
  • Coached a minimum of 100 First Grade Games, no matter the Era.

The Committee must unanimously endorse the Induction Voting Shortlist prior to voting commencement.
