Hard-hitting forward Frank-Paul Nuuausala was one of the standouts in last nights 20-4 win over Manly at Bluetongue Stadium, but like his coach believes the new-look Roosters still have plenty of work to do before the Round 1 blockbuster against rivals South Sydney.

FPN, as hes known to many, spoke with Roosters.com.au following the win and told us he was happy with the win but knows theres still a few things that need ironing out before the NRL season kicks off in just under three weeks time.

"It was good to test ourselves after a long pre-season of training and see whether we could transfer that to the game situation," he said.

Contuing on, "I reckon the boys did pretty well but weve still got a lot of things to work on, especially our ball control, but our defence was harder and thats our main focus this year."

Nuuausala started the match at lock, taking on the Sea Eagles midfield defence with big-men Marty Kennedy, Dylan Napa, Isaac Liu and new recruit Sam Moa, who impressed the Kiwi international in his first hit-out for the Red, White and Blue.

"It was good to get a hit out, especially with the news boys like Sammy Moa and the young boys Dylan Napa and Isaac Liu who I reckon impressed the coaches tonight with the way they played," said Nu'uausala.

With the likes of his New Zealand team mate Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, former NYC star Kane Evans and high-profile off-season signing Sonny Bill Williams set to make their first appearance in next weekends Foundation Cup match against the Tigers at home, FPN knows the importance of a good showing against the Benji Marshall led side.

"It was good to get a win, but we need to back it up now. You cant just get one win and drop off the next week."

"Were happy with the way we played and the result, but weve still got plenty to work on before next week against the Tigers."

Another side with plenty of new faces in 2013, the joint-venture club wont be a walk in the park next week at Allianz but theres some quiet confidence following last nights victory and the positivity around this Roosters group so far this season is proving to be confidence boosting for guys like Nuuausala who have suffered a few tough years in Bondi.

"Its never easy against them, but well work on what we need to this week before the match and well be ready come game day," he smiled.
