Sydney Roosters jersey sponsor Opel will not be renewing its partnership with the club beyond the 2013 season. Opel held the chest and bottom back position on the famous Tri-Colours home and away strips.
It was announced last Friday that Opel will cease operations and commence winding down its Australian network immediately citing an unsustainable financial model required for its continuation in the country.
Roosters Chief Operating Officer Commercial, Mr Ted Helliar, said it was unfortunate to see the German automobile company move on.
Opel have been wonderful partners of our club for the past two seasons and it was disappointing to learn that they are winding down their Australian network.
However, this announcement presents the club with an opportunity to partner with another brand and further develop our commercial strategies.
