With Frank-Paul Nuuausala becoming the first player to be assessed under the NRL's new concussion rules, Roosters coach Trent Robinson said the requirements look to be working well.
The new rules, which come into force this year, put even more emphasis on player safety and require that a player who is under any suspicion of having suffered a concussion obtain medical clearance before returning to the field.
"I thought [the new procedure] worked really quickly, the guys got him off, went up, assessed him, and said he was ok," Robinson said of the assessment of Nuuausala at the post match press conference.
"There's five criteria and he had the wobbly boot on so that was one of them. He was clear straight away in his discussion on the field but because he wobbled out of the tackle he was off straight away so that was good work from the [trainer].
"But he was talking clearly apparently straight away and I saw him at half time as well so I think it probably worked well."
Nuuausala suffered a knock in the 28th minute shortly after taking the field when attempting to tackle Rabbitohs forward Luke Burgess. However he was back on the field before halftime without costing his side an interchange as the new concussion rules took effect.
