The Sydney Roosters again showed great defensive steel but it wasn't enough going down to the Bulldogs 9-8 at Allianz Stadium.

In tough conditions the home side showed great scramble defending their line but again it was a lack if execution in attack that cost the home side.

In positive news Issac Liu was a late call up to the side, finally returning after a lengthy lay off with injury.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring for the night crossing over out wide after a slick back line movement to have the visitors in front by six.

Despite giving up a host of possession and penalties the Tricolours hung in, only conceding a
penalty goal to push the lead out to eight.

A few penalties and determined runs later the home side finally got down the right end of the field and quickly crossed after a beautiful pass from Pearce put Michael Jennings over in the corner.

The home side continued to dominate at the back end of the half and finally leveled the scores just before the break when Maloney slotted a penalty goal.

Both sides went at it for the first thirty minutes of the second with the Tricolours going the closest, Tupou judged to have gone out when trying to touch the ball down.

Pearce then narrowly missed a field goal attempt before Hodgkinson slotted his attempt to have the visitors up by one.

The Bulldogs then held on to win the game by a solitary point.
