Last Time We Met: Dragons
The Sydney Roosters put in a dominant performance, hammering the Dragons 34-14 in the Anzac Day clash at Allianz stadium.
In an encouraging performance, the Roosters were on the front foot the entire game, winning the battle in the middle and defending well for the entire eighty minutes.
Aidan Guerra, Boyd Cordner and Jake Friend were stand outs on the day as a great team victory added great momentum heading in to the representative period.
The Tricolours came out firing and were totally dominant in the first ten minutes. After going close on a few occasions Aidan Guerra finally crossed the line for the visitors.
After stepping the first defender who was already off balance, the Queenslander carried Dugan over the line to have the Roosters in front by six.
A brilliant team effort saw the Tricolours cross for a second minutes later.
After going from sideline to sideline Tupou finally threw a miracle pass back in from touch enabling Jennings to break away and pass off to Tupou who did a great job backing up his first effort to score.
The Dragons hit back when captain Ben Creagh sold a clever dummy filling in at hooker to burrow over down the short side and make it 12-4.
It didn't seem to change the momentum and Tupou nearly crossed for his second but was denied by the video referee, ruled to have knocked on in a very questionable decision.
A beautiful cut out pass from James Maloney then found Minichiello on the wing, the captain diving over out wide to set up a fourteen point lead.
It looked like the that's how it would stay heading in to the break until a Roosters error at the back cleaning up a grubber ended up in the hands of Nathan Green who touched down giving the Dragons a boost heading in to the break.
The boost didn't last long as Jake Friend went on a grubber and chase mission, surprising the defence and getting to the ball first to further extend the Tricolours lead.
Despite dominating possession and have numerous chances for the next twenty minutes the Tricolours failed to cross the line.
It took a few penalties but the Dragons finally got some field position and did well to take advantage of a slight overlap on the left enabling Gerard Beale to crash over.
Once again though it was the Roosters who dominated through the middle of the field, finally landing a killer blow when Cordner crashed over from short range.
