Next Monday night's return home to Allianz Stadium for Sydney Roosters Fans will come with a surprise following the installation of the largest video screens ever at a rugby league fixture.

The Moore Park venue welcomed the new screens over the summer months with their debut coming just last Sunday afternoon when Sydney FC hosted Brisbane Roar in the A-League at the multi-sport venue.

Discussing the high-definition 277 square-metre screens, Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust Chief Executive Jamie Barkley said, "This work is already well under way, the artist impressions will become reality in a matter of months."

“They’re bigger than the video boards at Wembley and Twickenham, and are nearly five times larger than the screens they replace."

“In conjunction with the high density Wi-Fi and 1200-screen IPTV network announced by NSW Sports Minister Stuart Ayres earlier this year, Allianz Stadium will be Australia’s most technologically advanced live sport venue."

“Our end goal here is to give Sydney’s sports fans an unmatched experience right now – not several years and many millions of dollars away."

“By the time the NRL season starts, you’ll be able to order food and drink from your seat, keep up with the action on an IPTV screen anywhere in the venue and experience the biggest video boards of any rectangular stadium in Australia.”

The Daktronics superscreens will introduce Australian fans to a new 13mm LED module, with more than 1.6 million pixels, linked to LED ribbon boards around the upper seating bowl, SCG Trust General Manager Strategy and Projects Piers Thompson said.

“The superscreens are 27m wide and more than 10m high, configured in the new 24:9 widescreen format,” Mr Thompson said.

“As well as high definition live action and replays, there are opportunities for split screens showing scores, statistics and other stadium-specific messaging.

“The technology allows the stadium to be branded by the home team or event, a first for Australia that will improve spectator engagement and provide a home ground advantage for clubs, their fans and sponsors.”

The video boards will be the brightest and clearest resolution currently available anywhere in the world, Daktronics Australia General Manager Blair Robertson said.

“Daktronics is honoured to have once again partnered with the Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust,” Mr Robertson said.

“Allianz Stadium’s new superscreens will breathe new life into what is NSW’s favourite place to watch rugby league, rugby union and football.”

The Trust has partnered with a number of world-leading organisations as part of its Connected Stadium solution, including OAMM, PMY Group, Sporting Innovations, Telstra, Cisco and Daktronics.
