The Roosters went down to the Panthers on Saturday afternoon in what was a tough day at Pepper Stadium.

The Panthers opened the scoring early when a clever grubber was pounced on by Dylan Edwards two minutes into the game.

The Roosters would hit straight back though Joseph Manu, who received a beautiful pass from Johnny Tuivasa-Sheck to score in the corner.

There wasn't much in this back and forth affair and try for try was the game, as Penrith scored through their back rower Corey Waddell, and Johnny Tuivasa-Sheck scored for the Roosters just minutes later in what was some erratic football.

Late in the half, the Panthers scored back-to-back tries through both of their wingers on each edge.

They went into the break with a healthy 14 point lead in what was an entertaining opening half.

The Panthers started the second half the same way they finished the first, scoring back to back tries in the opening ten minutes to make it a twenty six point defecit.

Three tries to the Panthers was the way the second half started, until Johnny Tuivasa-Sheck bursted through the line to score after a ninety metre individual effort.

The Panthers would strike straight back though, as it appeared to be anything but the Roosters day.

Charlie Taylor and Miseli Vaikeli scored back-to-back tries for the Roosters, but it was too late for a comeback in this one.

Latrell Mitchell ran 80 metres after an offload from his brother to score in the final minute, and Jack Hetherington scored in the corner as the siren sounded. The final score was 30-44.
