NRL Premiership - Round 11 - Sydney Roosters V Bulldogs - 22 April 2016 - ANZ Stadium, Sydney, NSW - Steve Christo

The Roosters went down to the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium on Sunday afternoon after a slow start saw them trailing by a big margin early.

The Bulldogs had a dream start, surviving an early scare from the Roosters attack and countering with a try from Tyrone Phillips in the corner.

There were a lot of errors from the Roosters, and they were unable to find any momentum in attack.

The Bulldogs would take advantage in the final 10 minutes, scoring back-to-back tries through Tyrone Phillips and Josh Reynolds to take an 18 point lead with just minutes remaining in the half.

Backs against the wall, something clicked for the Roosters when they came back with back-to-back tries of their own.

Daniel Tupou would claim the first try, after some impressive team lead-up saw him go over on the left edge.

The next was set up by Boyd Cordner after finding open space, passing inside to Latrell Mitchell and letting the young fullback sprint his way over just wide of the uprights.

After finishing the half strong, there would be no carry-over effect for the Roosters as the Bulldogs were first to score through winger Curtis Rona.

After being disallowed two tries in the second half, the third time was a charm when Mitchell Pearce got a perfect pass away to Latrell Mitchell to put him over for his second in the closing ten minutes.

Phillips claimed his hat-trick in the closing stages and pretty well sealed the win for the Bulldogs.

The Roosters would score one more through Ryan Matterson in the final minutes, but it would do nothing more than improve the score.
