The Last Time We Met the Penrith Panthers was over a year ago in Round 3 of the 2017 NRL Telstra Premiership season for what was a good old fashioned nail-biter at Panthers Stadium.

While the Panthers kicked off the game with plenty of momentum, the Roosters did well to flex their defensive muscles and hang on under pressure. 

Despite an excellent defensive start, the Panthers were first to score through Tyrone Peachey on the back of a flick pass from Matt Moylan.

The Roosters hit back with back-to-back efforts from Michael Gordon and Latrell Mitchell to push their way in front leading into the break. 

The Panthers hit two field goals in the second half to edge their way in front, despite the Roosters scoring two tries to the Panthers one. 

Though they left it until late, some backline brilliance from Daniel Tupou and Michael Gordon edged the Roosters in front in the closing minutes.

The match ended with arguably the best defensive effort of the year from the Roosters and ensured that the Tricolours with the two points.
