Seniors Report Round 2 | Resurgent Roosters Crush Manly

The Sydney Roosters have continued their strong start to the 2022 Jersey Flegg Cup season, while the North Sydney Bears enjoyed an early bye as Round 2 of the Senior Representative season continued over the weekend.

Playing on the neutral territory of Leichhardt Oval, the Roosters' scintillating attack was on full display in the under 21s contest while the Bears spent a week on the sidelines.

The Central Coast Roosters will kick-off their season in the Harvey Norman Women's Premiership (Open Competition) on Sunday May 1 against the Wests Tigers at Morry Breen Oval.

Roosters Go 2/2 After Attacking Showcase

The Sydney Roosters' impressive start to the Jersey Flegg season continued, with the side producing their second straight seven try performance to down Manly 40-24 at Leichhardt Oval.

However, they didn't have it all their own way early on.

In fact, it was the Sea Eagles who raced out of the blocks, piling on three tries in the opening 20 minutes of the contest to race to an 18-0 lead.

Led strongly by captain Jacob Preston, the Roosters dug deep to take back the ascendancy and swing the game in their favour, scoring four unanswered tries to send a shell-shocked Sea Eagles side into the break 24-18 behind.

The Roosters continued the push in the second half, with Preston and Jack Mossman grabbing doubles as the side pushed through the 40 point barrier.

Now sitting top of the ladder, the Jersey Flegg side will now look ahead to a clash with the Rabbitohs next weekend, while the North Sydney Bears will also face Souths before the NRL side on Friday night.

Sydney Roosters 40 (Jacob Preston 2, Jack Mossman 2, Zac Montgomery, Luke Knight and Vuate Karawalevu tries, Ronald Volkman 6 goals) def Manly 24
