After conceding 88 points in their previous two matches to the other two bottom three teams, the Sydney Roosters NSW Cup team have certainly put that disappointment behind them, with a thumping 58-6 victory over Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles at Wentworth Park.
The Roosters’ fifth win of the season, and second over the Sea Eagles this year, featured ten Roosters tries.
Sandon Smith (2 tries, 4 try assists, 26 points), Jake Elliott (4 try assists), Blake Steep (203 metres run in 57 minutes) and Ethan King (try, 2 line breaks and 199 metres run) were amongst a number of outstanding individual performers in the Roosters biggest win since returning to the NSW Cup in 2023.
Right centre Robert Toia (try, 203 metres run and 8 tackle busts) had another strong hit out as he continues his comeback from multiple long-term injuries.
Two tries in the last two minutes to the Newcastle Knights have unfortunately prevented the Central Coast Roosters from posting their first win of the season in the NSW Women’s Premiership.
The Roosters led 22-18 in the Round 4 clash with two minutes remaining but went down 26-22 to the Knights, who moved up to 5th with their win.
The Glebe Dirty Reds Ron Massey Cup team have made it three from three in matches against the Hills Bulls this season (all away from home) with a 36-22 Round 17 win at Baulkham Hills.
The win has lifted the Dirty Reds back to second on the competition ladder after the Dirty Reds scored five tries in the last twenty minutes of the game.
