SENIOR REPRESENTATIVES TEAMLISTS – Sunday, 8th March, 2025

A host of new players will debut for the Roosters on Sunday in the opening round of the NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg Cup.

NSW Cup Team (Round 1):

Despite the unavailability of many NRL squad members through the top two grades, Sydney Roosters NSW Cup Coach Brett Morris has still named a formidable lineup for Sunday’s opening round clash with North Sydney at Wentworth Park.

New players Tom Rodwell (Newtown) Ben Johnson (St George Illawarra), Ryhs Dakin (Newtown), Josh Finau (Wests Tigers) and Aston Warwick (Penrith) will be joined in the team by 2024 Jersey Flegg Cup graduates Lafi Tuinavai, Hayden Barton and Kyron Fekitoa (18th man) plus a host of Roosters NRL squad members (including new recruit Tom Rodwell), in a team to be captained by Max McCathie. Young halfback Toby Rodwell will play S.G. Ball Cup again this weekend.

The team finished last season with five successive wins and has played well through the trials, so there is reason for optimism leading into the 2025 season.

With the Ron Massey Cup (where Glebe plays as the Roosters feeder club) competition not commencing until next week, those NSW Cup contracted players that have missed selection this round, will need to wait an extra week to play their first competition game of the season.
