The Sydney Roosters have opened their home account for 2015 with a hard-fought victory over the Penrith Panthers 20-12 at Allianz Stadium.

It was new recruit Blake Ferguson that stole the show in his first hit out infront of his new Members and Fans with the rampaging centre crossing for a double in the second-half.

The Roosters kicked off the scoring with a well worked play to the right hand side seeing Shaun Kenny-Dowall cross for the opener.

The Panthers didn't find the line until the final minute before half-time as Jamal Idris was awarded a try down the left-edge following a strong lead up effort from returning winger Josh Mansour.

With end-to-end footy the theme for the match it was Ferguson who broke the mould in the 45th minute as he broke the Raiders line on the end of a sweeping play to his right edge to score.

Less than 20 minutes later and he was in again after a brilliant read in attack from the former NSW Blues outside back saw him dummy his way through to cross for his double.

A late try to James Segeyaro saw the Panthers claw back the gap slightly however it wasn't enough as the Roosters recorded their second victory of the new season.
